Today was a historical day – yes, that’s often said, but today we felt it. We felt the history being made as our CEO, Clarence Pierce, took a seat for the first COVID-19 vaccine administered at Hamilton Community Health Network. You could feel the electricity in the air as we were all a little apprehensive, excited, and relieved at the same time. This is the day we have been waiting for since last March. Finally, it is the beginning of safety in our organization and for our healthcare team again.
That safety is paramount for everyone to get back to normal. We know many people are hesitant when it comes to getting this vaccine. After all, it was pretty fast. But this is the first vaccine where a worldwide collaboration among scientists, medical doctors, health and government officials, as well as manufacturers actually happened and succeeded! This collective effort allowed researchers and scientists to shorten the typical vaccine timeline without sacrificing safety or quality. That speed is leading to saving thousands of lives.
We hope you consider getting the COVID vaccine. If you’re hesitant, get input from your physician, do your own research of reputable sources and don’t assume that the post your read on social media is accurate. In the meantime, we here at Hamilton are proud to be part of medical history.
