For Immediate Release: Wednesday, December 12, 2018

FLINT, MICH. – In the giving spirit, Hamilton Community Health Network and it’s Mommy Talk: Lunch on Us program partners are making sure expectant mothers get a gift this holiday season. During the last Mommy Talk session of 2018, attendees will receive coats, toys, baby clothes and a warm meal. This session takes place on Thursday, December 13 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Hamilton’s North Pointe Clinic, located at 5710 Clio Road, Flint, Michigan 48504.

Multiple health agencies have been attending the Mommy Talk program providing expectant mothers with local resources available to them and their children. On Thursday, these organizations are ready to give to the mothers in attendance. Molina Healthcare will provide 35 children’s coats and Thursday’s lunch spread from Bob Evans. HAP will give a limited amount of Walmart gift cards to the expectant mothers through a drawing. Mothers will be able to pick out clothing for their babies, donated by Hamilton employees. There will also be a drawing for children’s toys, also donated by Hamilton employees.

“Many of the mothers who attend Mommy Talk each month are in need of some type of assistance,” says Amy Bacon, Health Educator at Hamilton Community Health Network. “To be able to provide them the information they need, get them connected to resources, and presently give their children a gift this holiday season will hopefully give them a bit of hope as they prepare to welcome a new little one into the world.”

Mommy Talk: Lunch on Us is a free program, open to expectant mothers in Flint. The sessions are held during lunch every second Thursday of the month. The program started in July of 2018. In 2019, Hamilton has gained sponsorships for Mommy Talk through HAP, Molina Healthcare, Hurley Medical Center, Michigan State University Extension and the Genesee County Health Department. Future sessions are scheduled for Thursday, January 12, February 14, March 14, April 11, May 9 and June 13.
