More about Mommy Talk

Mommy Talk: Lunch on Us began as a way to address the rate of stillbirths, miscarriages and low birth weight deliveries among Hamilton Community Health Network obstetric (OB) and prenatal care patients. Data collected among OB patients shows out of just over 2700 patients, there were nearly 150 pregnancy losses between 2010 and 2016. The data revealed possible causes were depression, anxiety, stress, and patients receiving prenatal care late in the pregnancy stages, among other factors.

With Mommy Talk: Lunch on Us, Hamilton Community Health Network hopes to give expectant mothers an open conversation and a safe space to express concerns about their pregnancy, childbirth and other issues that may impact mom and the baby’s health. Through these discussions, Hamilton is able to provide assistance and access to resources to help address health concerns. Health educators, community health workers, and a licensed lactation consultant are available to expectant mothers at every session.

Who Can Attend?

Mommy Talk: Lunch on Us is open to all expecting and new mothers who are patients at Hamilton Community Health Network, as well as expecting and new moms in need of health care.

Why Should I Attend?

Not only will mothers get the chance to talk about their health concerns before the baby arrives, and after the baby is born, but the program offers great conversation, laughs and support. Sometimes we are able to provide giveaways to expectant moms. We also provide sweet treats to compliment lunch.

Thanks to a partnership with HAP, we are able to provide a gift to a limited amount of expectant mothers who attend their prenatal appointments throughout their pregnancy. This program was established to help moms understand the importance of early prenatal care, which will lead to healthier choices.
